Široka Street: A Broad Path Through Dubrovnik's History

Getting There

• Walking

  Široka Street is located in the heart of Dubrovnik's Old Town and is easily accessible on foot from any of the main entry points. From Pile Gate, the main entrance to the Old Town, walk along Stradun (Placa), the main street. Turn right onto Široka Street. The street is a short walk from Stradun and is lined with shops and restaurants. There are no specific costs associated with walking to Široka Street.

• Public Transport

  If arriving by public transport to Pile Gate, enter the Old Town and walk along Stradun. Turn right onto Široka Street. As of July 2025, a single bus ticket costs €1.73 if purchased in advance at newsstands or the Libertas kiosk at Pile Gate. If purchased on the bus, the price is €1.99. A 24-hour ticket costs €5.31.

• Taxi

  Taxis can drop passengers off at Pile Gate or Ploče Gate, just outside the Old Town, as the Old Town is a pedestrian-only zone. From either gate, walk along the main street, Stradun, and turn onto Široka Street. As of July 2025, taxi fares in Dubrovnik start with an initial charge of 30 HRK (approximately €4), with an additional 9 HRK (approximately €1.3) per kilometer. A short taxi ride from the Port of Dubrovnik to Pile Gate, for example, could cost around 90 HRK (approximately €12).
