Brijuni National Park: A Croatian Island Paradise

Brijuni National Park, located off the coast of Fažana, is comprised of 14 islands that showcase a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. The largest island, Veli Brijun, is the only one open to the public and is easily accessible by ferry. The archipelago has a rich history, serving as a Roman settlement, a quarry, and later as the summer residence of President Josip Broz Tito. Today, visitors can explore the islands' diverse attractions, including over 200 dinosaur footprints dating back to the Cretaceous period. The islands also feature Roman ruins, such as the Roman villa rustica in Verige Bay, and the Byzantine castrum. The Safari Park, established by Tito, houses exotic animals from around the world. Other attractions include the Mediterranean Garden, St. Mary's Church, and Tito's Cadillac. Brijuni offers a variety of activities, including cycling, golf, tennis, and diving.
