Walking
If you are in the heart of Old Town, start at the Peristyle, which is a large open square near the Cathedral of Saint Domnius. From the Peristyle, head towards the Golden Gate (Zlatna vrata), the main entrance to Diocletian's Palace. Continue walking straight through the gate, and you will find yourself inside the palace complex. The palace is well-signposted, so follow the signs to key attractions within.
Public Transport
While Diocletian's Palace is easily accessible on foot, if you find yourself further away in the city, you can take a local bus to the nearest stop. The bus lines 1, 3, and 5 connect various parts of the city to the Old Town area. Get off at the 'Trg Republike' (Republic Square) stop, which is about a 10-minute walk from the palace. From the square, head down Marmontova Street, which will lead you to the palace.
Use Diocletian's Palace as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
