Discover more about The Park of Vladimir Nazor

Vladimir Nazor Park, also known as Perivoj Vladimira Nazora, is Zadar's largest park, offering a serene escape from the city's vibrant energy. Situated just east of the peninsula and Land Gate, the park occupies the site of the former Forte fortress, constructed in the 16th century. Created between 1888 and 1890, the park was the vision of Dragutin Blažeković, an Austrian deputy and military commander of Dalmatia. Blažeković, despite working for the Austrians, supported Croatian rights and resigned when they were not conceded. He gifted Zadar a beautifully planted park featuring winding pathways, diverse flora, and elevated viewpoints with stunning sea views. Initially named the Military Park, it was later renamed in honor of Vladimir Nazor, a renowned Croatian writer. Today, Vladimir Nazor Park is a cherished green space for relaxation and recreation. Visitors can wander along stone paths, admire the cypress alleys and centuries-old pines, and discover sculptures and art installations. The park provides ample space for children to play, couples to unwind, and nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the tranquil surroundings.
