The building's design, modeled after Koza Han in Bursa, reflects classic Ottoman architectural principles. Throughout its history, Büyük Han has served various purposes. Under British rule, it was repurposed as a prison from 1892 to 1903. Later, it provided refuge for poor families. In the 1990s, a comprehensive restoration transformed it into a thriving arts center. Today, Büyük Han is a hub of cultural activity. Visitors can explore the inner courtyard, admire the stone arches, and discover the small mosque with its ablutions fountain.
