Car
If you are traveling by car, start from any city in North Bohemia and head towards Prague. Use the D8 highway, which is the main route connecting North Bohemia to the capital. Follow signs for 'Praha' and then take the exit for 'Praha 2-Vyšehrad'. Once you reach Vyšehrad, park in designated parking areas nearby, as parking can be limited. Be sure to check for any parking fees, which can vary.
Train
To reach Vyšehrad via public transport, take a train from your location in North Bohemia to Prague. Major train stations such as Ústí nad Labem, Liberec, or Děčín have frequent connections to Prague's main train station (Hlavní nádraží). Once you arrive at Hlavní nádraží, transfer to the metro. Take Metro Line C (the red line) towards Hůrka and get off at the 'Vyšehrad' station. The fortress is a short walk from the metro exit. Check the train schedules and ticket prices in advance.
Bus
Alternatively, you can take a bus from various towns in North Bohemia directly to Prague. Look for buses departing from towns like Liberec or Ústí nad Labem to the 'Florenc' bus station in Prague. From Florenc, take Metro Line B (the yellow line) to 'Karlovo náměstí' and then transfer to Line C (the red line) towards Hůrka, getting off at 'Vyšehrad'. Ensure you check for bus schedules and ticket costs prior to your journey.
Tram
Once you are in Prague, you can also opt for tram services to get to Vyšehrad. From the 'Vyšehrad' metro station, take tram number 2 or 3. Get off at the 'Vyšehrad' tram stop, which is within walking distance of the fortress. Tram tickets can be purchased at kiosks or vending machines and are typically valid for 30 minutes.
Use Vyšehrad as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
