Expozice Pivovarnictví, or the Brewery Exhibition, is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts and history buffs alike, nestled in the charming town of Znojmo. This unique museum is devoted to the art and science of brewing, showcasing the rich heritage of Czech beer culture. As you step inside, you're greeted by a fascinating array of exhibits that detail the brewing process from ancient times to modern techniques. The museum is located in the most interesting building of the former brewery, in the 'brewery' itself. Its preserved technological equipment from 1930, made in the Škoda factories in Pilsen, forms the core of the exhibition and was declared a cultural monument in 2010. The exhibition presents the history of brewing and beer consumption in the Znojmo region. You can even step inside one of the huge copper vats and watch a video sequence about the history of the Znojmo brewery. Interactive displays allow visitors to engage with the history and craftsmanship that goes into each pint, providing a deeper appreciation for this beloved beverage. The museum offers a variety of informative displays, including historical artifacts, brewing equipment, and detailed explanations of the beer-making process. You can learn about the different types of hops, malt, and yeast used in brewing and discover how these ingredients come together to create the diverse array of flavors found in Czech beers. Although Znojmo is known more for wine than beer, it has a long tradition of brewing. Beer has been brewed here since 1278, when the Roman King Rudolf I granted Znojmo the right to brew and sell beer. The brewery was in operation until 2009, when production was interrupted. In 2015, after a six-year hiatus, beer production returned to the original brewery in the outer bailey of Znojmo Castle, where beer had been brewed for almost 300 years. For children, there is a small themed children's corner and a simplified conversation with beer yeast. After the museum tour, if you feel like having a chilled and dewy beer, just cross Hradní Street and visit the Znojmo City Brewery, which operates both a company store and a stylish brewery ReZtaurace with a large outdoor garden.
