Discover more about Kuželov Windmill

Perched on a hill near the village of Kuželov, the Kuželov Windmill is one of the few preserved windmills of the Dutch type in the Czech Republic. Built in 1842, it served the local farmers for over a century before ceasing operation in 1946. In 1973, the Technical Museum in Brno acquired the mill and restored it to working condition, though now it functions solely as a museum exhibit. The mill's cone-shaped stone construction, complete with a revolving shingle roof and four wings, is a sight to behold. Inside, visitors can explore the original technical equipment across three floors, including the grinding and sieving devices. Adjacent to the mill, residential and farm buildings showcase highlanders' housing and farming practices from the turn of the 20th century. Various tools used for mill maintenance are also on display. Each July, the area comes alive with the Horňácko Folk Festival, offering a vibrant display of local traditions. The windmill provides an authentic backdrop for this celebration of folklore, featuring traditional costumes and music.
