Getting there

Walking

From the Špičák train station, the lower station of the Lanovka Pancíř is approximately a 20-minute walk. Follow the signs towards the ski area. The entrance to the lift is about 200 meters above the main road. There are no specific fees for this approach.

Public Transport

From Železná Ruda, take a local bus to Špičák. From the Špičák bus stop, it's a short walk to the Lanovka Pancíř. Bus fares within Železná Ruda typically cost around 20-30 CZK. From the bus stop in Spicak, it is approximately a 20-minute walk to the lower station of the lift.

Car

Drive to Špičák and follow the signs for the Lanovka Pancíř. There is a central parking lot available near the base of the lift (GPS: 49.1583400, 13.2256247). Parking fees vary, but expect to pay around 50 CZK per hour or 200 CZK for the day.

Lanovka Pancíř, a vintage two-section chairlift, offers a tranquil ascent to the summit of Pancíř Mountain (1214 m) near Železná Ruda. As the first cable car built on the Czech side of Šumava, it holds a special place in the region's history.The journey begins at Špičák, where the first section of the lift carries you to Hofmanova Bouda. Here, you'll transfer to the second section, which continues to the top of Pancíř. The ride offers views of the surrounding forests and meadows.At the summit, a lookout tower and chalet await. From the tower, panoramic views unfold, showcasing the Šumava mountain range, including Velký Javor in Germany, and, on clear days, even the Alps. The summit is also a gateway to hiking trails leading to other peaks and valleys in the Šumava National Park.Lanovka Pancíř isn't just a ride to a viewpoint; it's a journey through time and nature, offering a unique perspective on the beauty of the Bohemian Forest.
