    Take a bus from Vimperk or Prachatice to Kvilda. Buses run several times a day; the journey from Vimperk takes about 30 minutes. From Kvilda, walk 4 km to Prameny Vltavy, following the yellow hiking trail markers. Alternatively, taxis are available in Kvilda for approximately 150-200 CZK.

    Drive towards Kvilda. From Kvilda, follow signs for 'Prameny Vltavy'. The road is well-marked and goes through forested areas. The drive is about 20 minutes, covering approximately 12 km. Parking is available near the site with no fee. Ensure you park in designated areas.

    Prameny Vltavy, or the Springs of the Vltava, is a captivating tourist attraction in the Šumava National Park, Czech Republic, marking the birthplace of the Vltava River. The area is characterized by its stunning landscapes, featuring forests, rolling hills, and sparkling streams, providing an idyllic setting for hiking and outdoor exploration. The Vltava River springs forth from a lush meadow, surrounded by dense forests and hills, creating a peaceful environment. Hiking trails cater to all skill levels, from easy strolls to challenging routes. The paths lead through viewpoints, offering panoramic vistas. Visitors can enjoy picnicking in designated areas. The site is open year-round, offering vibrant autumn foliage and serene winter landscapes. While the marked location features a symbolic spring with water flowing into a stone well via a wooden pipe, the actual springs are higher up Černá hora (Black Mountain). In 1922-1923, the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists built a tourist lodge near the springs to attract visitors. During World War II, the lodge was used as a prisoner-of-war camp. The lodge was torn down in 1953 due to its dilapidated state.
