The Svatobor Lookout Tower, located on the wooded Svatobor Hill (845m above sea level), is a major landmark in the Sušice region. The tower provides visitors with spectacular views of the surrounding Šumava countryside. From the top, you can see the lush forests, rolling hills, and the charming town of Sušice. The original lookout tower was built in 1894 but was demolished in 1934 due to structural issues. The current stone tower was constructed in just three months in the same year, according to the design of Sušice architect Karel Houra. In 1935, a chalet with a restaurant and guest rooms was added. Climbing the 182 steps to the top of the tower rewards you with a unique circular view, not only of the inland but also of the most famous peaks of Šumava – Poledník, Jezerní hora, and Pancíř. On a clear day, you can even see the Alps.Today, the Svatobor Lookout Tower is one of the most beautiful lookout towers in the Plzeň Region.
