Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach Tower Boubín via public transportation, take a bus from Prachatice to Buk-Prachatice. Check local bus schedules for the most accurate times. The bus fare is typically around 30-50 CZK, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. From Buk, it's approximately a 4 km walk to the tower, following well-marked signs. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

  • Car

    If driving, head towards Buk-Prachatice in Šumava National Park. From Prachatice, head north on E49 towards Strakonice, then exit towards Buk. Follow signs to Tower Boubín. There is a designated parking area near the tower base. Parking fee is approximately 50 CZK for the day.

  • Walking

    For those already in Kubova Huť, the easiest access to the lookout tower is on foot, following the blue tourist sign. The route is about 4.5 km long. From the village it is an easy walk up a mountain road, with the final section to the tower on a long wooden walkway with steps.

Tower Boubín stands as a testament to the natural beauty of the Czech Republic. Located in the serene region of Buk-Prachatice, this observation deck is surrounded by the lush forests and rolling hills of the Šumava National Park. The tower itself is an impressive wooden structure, inviting tourists to climb its 109 steps and witness the unparalleled vistas of the surrounding landscapes. Built between July and November 2004, the tower officially opened to tourists on June 3, 2005. It stands on the site of an original wooden triangular point with a viewing gallery. The materials for its construction were transported to the summit by horses, manually, and by cable car, highlighting its location in a protected area. From the top of the tower, visitors can see the Boubín ridge, Vimperk, and Prachatice. Information boards around the perimeter of the viewing platform help visitors identify key landmarks. Boubín hill itself is 1,362 meters high, and with the tower included, it surpasses Plechý mountain as the highest point in the Czech part of the Šumava range. The surrounding Boubín Forest is a nature reserve, with a unique composition visibly different from other forests.
