Discover more about Trojmezná hora

Trojmezná hora, or 'Three-Border Mountain,' is a prominent peak in the Šumava Mountains, straddling the border between Czechia and Germany. While the peak itself lies on the Czech-German border, the actual tripoint where Czechia, Germany, and Austria converge (called Trojmezí) is located approximately 900 meters east of Trojmezná hora. This area is part of the Šumava National Park, a protected area known for its well-preserved mountain spruce forests and unique biodiversity. The mountain's slopes, reaching elevations between 935 and 1378 meters, are covered by a forest that has been developing naturally with minimal human intervention. Some of the spruce trees here are estimated to be between 300 and 400 years old. The area is home to diverse species, including the three-toed woodpecker. The summit offers panoramic views, and on clear days, it is said that you can see as far as the Alps. While the mountain has suffered from forest calamities in the past, including the effects of wind, frost, acid rain and bark beetles, the area is recovering with new growth. Today, Trojmezná hora stands as a symbol of the cooperation between the three nations that share this unique natural space.
