Discover more about Bečovská botanical garden

Nestled in Bečov nad Teplou, the Bečovská Botanical Garden is a testament to early 20th-century horticultural vision. Founded by Duke Heinrich Beaufort-Spontin and Count Silva Tarouca, with the meticulous work of castle gardener Jan Koditek, the garden was once one of Bohemia's most important collection gardens. Spanning 12 hectares, the garden boasts a diverse landscape featuring intensive expositions, water areas, orchards, and natural terrains. Since 2005, it has undergone gradual renovation, transforming it into a space for relaxation, education, and sensory delight. Visitors can explore a wide range of valuable tree species and plant collections from different continents. In 1931, the garden already had 321 plant genera of 1005 species. The garden serves as a center for education and conservation, hosting workshops, guided tours, and events. These provide insights into horticulture, sustainability, and the importance of preserving biodiversity. The garden is accessible year-round, offering a visual feast and a place to learn about ecosystems. Visitors can also enjoy the Růžový víkend a Snídaně v botanické (Rose Weekend and Breakfast in the Botanical Garden). The garden is closed from November 3 to March 28, but special guided tours can be arranged for groups.
