Getting There

  • Driving

    Dover Motor Speedway is located at 1131 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901. From the North, you can take Route 13 South or Route 1 South to Exit 104. However, on Sundays, Exit 104 may be closed, and traffic will be rerouted to Exit 95. From the South, take Route 13 North to Lot No. 1, located off Jefferic Boulevard. Parking on Fridays and Saturdays is free. On Sundays, general parking is $20 (cash only). Premium parking options are also available for a fee.

  • Public Transport

    From the Dover Transit Center, DART First State Bus Routes 109 and 112 provide service to the speedway. Both routes stop near Delaware State University, which is within walking distance of Dover Motor Speedway. The fare is typically $1-$3.   • Shuttle

    On Sundays, a free, ADA-friendly park-and-ride shuttle service is available from the Christiana Mall off of Route 1 in Newark. The shuttle begins at 8 a.m. and drops passengers off in front of the Monster Monument. This service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The speedway was initially built as a dual-purpose facility for both horse racing and motorsports. The first NASCAR Cup Series race took place on July 6, 1969, with Richard Petty taking the checkered flag. Over the years, Dover has undergone several expansions and improvements, including a switch from asphalt to a concrete surface in 1995. The track's capacity peaked at 135,000 seats in 2001, making it the largest sports venue in the mid-Atlantic region.
