    From the New Castle Visitor Center at the Arsenal, walk east on Delaware Street. Turn left onto The Strand. The Read House & Gardens will be on your right at 42 The Strand. This is a pleasant walk through the historic district.

    From the Newark Transit Hub, take the DART First State Route 33 bus towards New Castle. Get off at the New Castle Historic District stop. Walk west on Delaware Street, then turn left onto The Strand. The Read House & Gardens is at 42 The Strand. The bus fare is typically $2.00.

    From I-95, take exit 5A (New Castle) to Route 141 South. Follow Route 141 South approximately 4 miles to the intersection of Route 273 and Route 9. Turn left and follow for approximately 1/2 mile to a fork in the road marked with a sign reading “Welcome to Historic New Castle.” Take the right-hand fork (Delaware Street). Proceed on Delaware Street to 2nd Street. Turn left on 2nd Street, right on Harmony Street, and right onto The Strand. The Read House and Gardens will be on your right. Free street parking is available.
