The Delaware Children's Museum (DCM), located on Wilmington's Riverfront, is dedicated to developing creative minds through playful learning. Since opening in April 2010, DCM has welcomed over a million guests and has become the First State's only children's museum. The big, yellow building is hard to miss and houses seven hands-on exhibits designed to engage children in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) concepts. Inside, kids can explore a variety of interactive exhibits. The Stratosphere, a 30-foot climbing structure, teaches spatial skills. ECOnnect introduces ecology-friendly technologies, while Bank On It introduces financial literacy. Other exhibits include Structures, The Power of Me, Training Wheels, and Studio D, which offers a space for artistic expression. The DCM provides a safe and enriching environment where children and families can have fun and discover new possibilities. The museum is particularly busy on weekday mornings during field trips, weekend afternoons, rainy days, and holiday Mondays. Quieter times are typically weekday afternoons. The DCM also hosts birthday parties, school and camp groups, and community organizations. With its commitment to hands-on learning and engaging exhibits, the Delaware Children's Museum is a valuable resource for families and a key attraction on the Wilmington Riverfront.
