Getting There

Walking

From downtown Bethany Beach, head west on Garfield Parkway (Route 26). The Nature Center will be on your left, next to Grotto Pizza. The walk is approximately 10-15 minutes.
Public Transport

The Bethany Beach Trolley offers a convenient, free service around town during the season. Check the trolley route map for the nearest stop to your location. The trolley stops at the Nature Center. The DART Route 208 bus also stops at Garfield Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue, a short walk to the Nature Center. The fare for the DART bus is $4 per day.
Driving

From Coastal Highway (Route 1), turn west onto Garfield Parkway (Route 26). The Nature Center is on the left, next to Grotto Pizza. Parking is available, but limited. From May 15 to September 15, parking costs $4 per hour. Pay stations accept credit cards and quarters. Daily and weekly digital parking permits are available for purchase online, but are not valid on Garfield Parkway.

The Bethany Beach Nature Center offers a tranquil escape into the coastal environment. This 26-acre preserve, located just off Route 26, features a variety of habitats, including forested uplands, freshwater wetlands, and tidal wetlands.The heart of the center is the historic Addy Cottage, built circa 1903, now serving as an interactive learning space. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits focused on the Inland Bays watershed, including a state-of-the-art "I-Wall" exhibit created in partnership with the Center for the Inland Bays.Outside, a network of trails, including a handicap-accessible boardwalk, winds through the different habitats. The Baldwin Nature Trail is an easy-to-follow boardwalk that leads through the wetlands and maritime forest. Birdwatchers will delight in the over 100 species of birds that call the center home, including owls, herons, bald eagles, and ospreys. A native plant demonstration garden showcases the region's flora and attracts pollinators. The center also features a kiddie park.The Bethany Beach Nature Center is operated by the town of Bethany Beach and offers year-round activities and programs designed to promote awareness of the local ecosystem. It's a consistently ranked top attraction in Bethany Beach, offering a blend of education and outdoor recreation.
