    Getting There

    Walking

    From the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Garfield Parkway in downtown Bethany Beach, head west on Garfield Parkway. The Nature Center is located on the north side of the road, approximately a 10-15 minute walk. Look for the historic cottage next to Grotto Pizza.

    Public Transport

    The Bethany Beach Trolley provides free transport around the town. Check the trolley route for the nearest stop to your location. Get off at the Nature Center & Tree Top Ln stop. From there, it is a short walk to the center. The DART Route 208 also stops at Garfield Parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue, which is a 7-minute walk to the Nature Center. The DART fare is $4 per day.

    Taxi/Ride-Share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are available in Bethany Beach. A short trip from the downtown area to the Nature Center will typically cost between $8-$15, depending on the service and demand.

    Driving

    From Coastal Highway (Route 1), turn west onto Garfield Parkway (Route 26). The Nature Center is located on the north side of Garfield Parkway, just west of Route 1. Free parking is available.

    Nestled in the heart of Bethany Beach, Delaware, the Bethany Beach Nature Center provides an enriching experience for visitors of all ages. Housed in the Addy Cottage, one of Bethany Beach's earliest homes built around 1903 by John Addy, one of the town's founders, the center itself is a piece of local history. Inside, guests can explore interactive exhibits, including the popular “Our Inland Bays…A Delicate Balance,” which uses an I-Wall to virtually guide visitors through the Inland Bays watershed. The exhibits highlight the unique wildlife and environmental significance of the region, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both education and recreation. Outside, a handicap-accessible boardwalk trail invites exploration of the 26-acre conservation area. This includes three acres of forested uplands, nine acres of freshwater wetlands, and fourteen acres of tidal wetlands. The Baldwin Trail, an easy 1/8-mile loop, allows visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the local flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for over 100 species of wild birds, diamondback terrapins, and various reptiles and amphibians. A native plant demonstration garden showcases local plant life and supports the area's birds and butterflies. The center is operated by the town of Bethany Beach and is open seasonally. The grounds are accessible from dawn until dusk daily.
