Discover more about Dover Motor Speedway

Dover Motor Speedway, nicknamed the 'Monster Mile', has been a mainstay of NASCAR racing since 1969. Located in Dover, Delaware, the speedway was originally built as a dual-purpose horse and motor racing facility. The first NASCAR Cup Series race was held on July 6, 1969, and won by Richard Petty. Over the years, the track has undergone several changes, including a complete concrete surface in 1995, making it one of the first NASCAR tracks to do so. The Monster Mile's challenging layout, with its high banking turns and narrow straightaways, has earned it a reputation as one of the toughest tracks on the NASCAR circuit. The track's current seating capacity is 54,000. In addition to NASCAR events, Dover Motor Speedway has also hosted IndyCar races. The Monster Monument at Victory Plaza is a must-see for fans. Dover Motor Speedway was owned by Dover Motorsports, Inc. until 2021 when it was purchased by Speedway Motorsports Inc. The speedway is adjacent to Bally's Dover, which owns the surrounding property.
