Discover Dominica, the Caribbean's 'Nature Island': Hike rainforests, soak in hot springs, and explore unspoiled landscapes. Adventure awaits in this eco-tourism paradise.
Dominica, known as the "Nature Island" of the Caribbean, is a haven for eco-tourists and adventure seekers. Unlike many Caribbean islands famed for their beaches, Dominica boasts lush rainforests, dramatic volcanic landscapes, and an abundance of natural hot springs. The island's rugged terrain is crisscrossed by 365 rivers, cascading waterfalls, and hidden gorges, offering endless opportunities for hiking, canyoning, and exploring unspoiled wilderness. From the challenging trek to the Boiling Lake to the serene beauty of the Emerald Pool, Dominica promises an immersive experience in nature's grandeur. Roseau, the capital city, provides a charming base for exploring the island's natural wonders, with its colorful markets, historic architecture, and vibrant Creole culture adding to the island's unique appeal. Dominica offers a unique Caribbean experience, focusing on adventure and natural beauty rather than typical beach tourism.

Public Transport
From the Roseau Market or the Bayfront Ferry Terminal, local minibuses (look for license plates starting with 'H') frequently depart for various destinations around the island. To reach attractions south of Roseau, such as Scotts Head or Champagne Beach, board a minibus heading in that direction. Fares typically range from EC$1.50 to EC$10.25 depending on the distance. Confirm the destination with the driver before boarding.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis are readily available in Roseau, particularly at the airports, ferry terminal, and major hotels. A taxi from the Bayfront Ferry Terminal to Trafalgar Falls, for example, would cost approximately EC$80-100. Always negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Ride-sharing services are not widely available on the island.
Walking
Within Roseau, many attractions are easily accessible on foot. From the Bayfront, it's a short walk to the Dominica Museum, the Roseau Public Market, and the Dominica Botanical Gardens. Be aware that sidewalks may be uneven in places.
