If you are driving from Los Haitises, start by heading southeast on the main road towards the town of Sabana de la Mar. Follow the signs for the Samana Highway (Carretera Samana). After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach the junction for the Duarte Highway (Carretera Duarte). Merge onto this highway heading towards Higüey. Continue on the Duarte Highway for about another hour. Once you reach Higüey, follow the signs to Cotubanamá National Park, which is located at 'Duarte 10, Higüey 23000'. There is no direct entrance into the park from the main road, so be sure to look for local signs directing you to the visitor center or the entrance of the park.

Public Transportation
To reach Cotubanamá National Park using public transportation, start your journey from Los Haitises by taking a local bus (guagua) to Sabana de la Mar. These buses are frequent and will cost around 100 DOP. Once you arrive in Sabana de la Mar, transfer to another bus heading towards Higüey. This leg will take about 1 hour and should cost around 150 DOP. After reaching Higüey, disembark at the main bus terminal. From there, you can either take a taxi (approximately 300 DOP) or walk to 'Duarte 10' where the park's entrance is located. Make sure to ask locals for specific directions as the park entrance may not be clearly marked.

This will be more expensive, typically costing around 2000-2500 DOP, depending on your starting point in Los Haitises.
