Getting There

  • Car

    From San Juan Valley, head east on Autopista Juan Pablo II. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers. Take the exit towards San Pedro de Macorís, and merge onto the Carretera San Pedro de Macorís. Follow the road until you reach the town of Boca Chica. From Boca Chica, take the coastal road (Carretera de la Costa) heading east. After about 15 kilometers, you will see signs for Playa Caleton. Turn left onto the dirt road leading to the beach. Parking is available near the entrance, but be prepared for a small fee of around 100 DOP.

    To reach Playa Caleton via public transport, start at the main bus terminal in San Juan Valley. Board a bus heading towards San Pedro de Macorís. The fare is approximately 200 DOP. Once in San Pedro de Macorís, switch to a local 'carrito' (shared taxi) that goes towards Boca Chica. The ride will cost about 50 DOP. Inform the driver that you want to go to Playa Caleton. The carrito will drop you off at the nearest point to the beach, from which you may need to walk about 10-15 minutes along a dirt path to reach the beach.
