Car
If you are driving, start from the city of Tulcán, Carchi. Head south on the Pan-American Highway (E35) towards the border with Colombia. After about 45 minutes, you will reach the border at Rumichaca. Once you cross the border, continue on the same road (Ipiales - Las Lajas) for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach Mirador Las Lajas. Ensure you have your passport and any required documents for crossing the border.

From Tulcán, take a bus heading to Ipiales, Colombia. The journey will take about 1 to 1.5 hours. Upon arrival in Ipiales, look for local buses or taxis that can take you to Las Lajas Sanctuary. You can ask for directions to Mirador Las Lajas; it’s a popular destination and drivers will be familiar with it. The taxi fare should be around $5-10 USD depending on your negotiation skills.
