Car
If you are driving from Quito, take the Pan-American Highway (E28) southbound. After approximately 45 kilometers, take the exit toward Cotopaxi National Park (E35). Follow the signs for Cotopaxi National Park, which will lead you to the entrance of the park. The GPS coordinates for the park entrance are approximately -0.7007416 latitude and -78.4297187 longitude. There may be an entrance fee of around $10 per vehicle, so be prepared with cash.
Public Transportation
From Quito, head to the Quitumbe bus terminal. Look for buses heading to Latacunga; this journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Latacunga, you can find local transport options such as a taxi or a shuttle service that will take you to the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. The shuttle fare is typically around $3 to $5 per person. Make sure to confirm that the shuttle goes to the National Park, as some may only go to nearby towns.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi or use a rideshare app from either Quito or Latacunga. From Quito, it can cost between $50 to $70, depending on the service and negotiation. From Latacunga, expect to pay around $30 to $40. Ensure that the driver is familiar with the route to Cotopaxi National Park.
