Car
If you are traveling by car, start by entering Cotopaxi National Park from the main entrance. Follow the main road until you reach the parking area near the Limpiopungo Lagoon. From Limpiopungo, take the trail leading towards Cerro el Morro. The hike is approximately 2.5 km and will take about 1-1.5 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is well-marked, but be prepared for some steep sections.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Quito to the Cotopaxi National Park entrance. The bus departs from the Quitumbe Terminal in Quito. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can either hike to Cerro el Morro or hire a local guide for assistance. The hike from Limpiopungo Lagoon to Cerro el Morro is about 2.5 km and will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. Ensure to check the bus schedule for return trips, as they may not be frequent.
Hiking
For those already in Cotopaxi National Park, you can access the trail to Cerro el Morro from Limpiopungo Lagoon. Follow the signs that direct you towards Cerro el Morro.
