By Car
If you are driving, start from the city of Ibarra, the capital of Imbabura Province. Head east on the Pan-American Highway (E35) for about 12 kilometers until you reach the town of La Esperanza. From La Esperanza, take the road that leads to Mojanda, which is well marked. The road will take you through beautiful Andean landscapes. Continue for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the Mojanda crater lake area. Be aware of the unpaved sections of the road, especially if it has rained. Parking is available near the lake.

By Public Transportation
To reach Mojanda by public transport, start from Ibarra's central bus terminal. Look for buses heading to 'Otavalo' or 'La Esperanza'. The fare is usually around $1.00 to $2.00. Ask the driver to drop you off at La Esperanza. From La Esperanza, you may need to negotiate a taxi or a 'mototaxi' (motorcycle taxi) to take you the remaining 10 kilometers to Mojanda. Expect to pay around $5.00 to $10.00 for this taxi ride. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting the journey.
