Car
If you're driving, start from Tena, the capital of Napo Province. Head south on the E20 highway for about 26 kilometers. After crossing the Napo River, continue on this road until you reach a junction. Take a right onto the road towards Manuel Galindo. Follow the signs for Cascada Rio Malo. The drive will take approximately 35-40 minutes. There are no tolls on this route.
Public Transportation
To reach Cascada Rio Malo via public transportation, take a bus from Tena to Manuel Galindo. Buses to Manuel Galindo can be found at the Tena bus terminal. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes and costs around $1-2. Once you arrive in Manuel Galindo, you may need to hire a local taxi or walk about 1.5 kilometers to reach the waterfall. Confirm with your driver for the best drop-off point near the trailhead.
Walking
If you arrive by taxi or on foot from Manuel Galindo, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to the waterfall. The path is well-trodden, but make sure to wear sturdy shoes, as it can be uneven and muddy in places. Follow the signs for Cascada Rio Malo, and enjoy the lush surroundings as you approach the falls.
