Car
If you're traveling by car from the town of Pastaza, take the E45 highway southeast towards Puyo. Continue on the E45 for about 1 hour until you reach the junction with the E30 highway. Turn left onto E30 and drive for another 2 hours, following signs to Kapawi Ecolodge. The last part of the journey involves a rough road; be prepared for possible delays. Ensure you have a reliable map or GPS as some areas may not have clear signage.
Public Transportation
From Puyo, take a bus towards Macas. Buses leave regularly from the terminal and the trip takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at Macas, find a local bus or taxi that can take you to the town of San Pedro. From San Pedro, you will need to arrange for a local guide or transportation service to take you to Kapawi Ecolodge, as it is located deep in the jungle. This final leg might cost around $20-30 per person, depending on the arrangement.
Boat
If you're near the rivers, you can also consider taking a canoe or motorboat from nearby riverside towns. This option is scenic but requires prior arrangement with local boat operators. Make sure to confirm the cost and travel time beforehand. Expect to pay around $40-50 for a private boat to Kapawi Ecolodge, and the journey might take approximately 1-2 hours depending on water conditions.
Use Kapawi Ecolodge as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
