Car
If traveling by car, start your journey in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Take the Pan-American Highway (E28) heading northwest towards Los Chillos Valley. Continue on the E28 until you reach the town of Sangolquí, then switch to the E35 road towards the northwest. Follow the E35 until you reach the intersection with the E20 road. Turn onto the E20, which will take you directly towards the town of Mashpi. The lodge is located at Reserva Privada Mashpi, Mashpi 150150. Ensure to have a GPS or a map handy, as some parts of the road can be winding and narrow. The drive from Quito to Mashpi Lodge takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Be mindful of potential tolls along the route.
Public Transportation
To reach Mashpi Lodge using public transportation, first, take a bus from Quito to the town of Santo Domingo. Buses leave from the Quitumbe Terminal and the journey takes around 2 hours. Once in Santo Domingo, you will need to transfer to a local bus heading towards Mashpi. These buses may not run very frequently, so check the schedule in advance. The local bus ride to Mashpi should take about 1 to 1.5 hours. Upon arriving in Mashpi, you can take a taxi to Mashpi Lodge, which is approximately 15 minutes away. Make sure to confirm the fare with the taxi driver before starting your ride.

If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Santo Domingo to Mashpi Lodge. This option is more expensive but offers convenience, especially if you have luggage. The taxi ride from Santo Domingo to Mashpi Lodge will take about 1 hour. Ensure to agree on the fare beforehand as it can vary depending on the driver.
