Bus & Taxi
From Quito, take a bus from the Quitumbe Terminal heading south towards Latacunga. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to Cotopaxi National Park ('A la Ingressa del Parque Nacional Cotopaxi') on the Pan-American Highway (E35). The bus ride takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and costs around $2. From the highway, hire a taxi or truck-taxi to take you to the park entrance and other spots inside the park. A taxi from the highway to the park entrance can cost $8 to $15. A truck-taxi from Machachi to the northern entrance can cost $20 to $30.
Car
From Quito, drive south on the Pan-American Highway (E35). The drive to the park entrance is approximately 1.5 hours. Look for the Cotopaxi National Park entrance sign near Machachi. From the main highway, it's about 15-20 km on unpaved roads to the park's control point. A 4WD vehicle is recommended, especially for reaching the José Ribas Refuge trailhead. There is no cost to enter Cotopaxi National Park.
