Punta Suarez: A Wildlife Spectacle on Española Island

Punta Suarez, situated on the western tip of Española Island, is one of the most captivating visitor sites in the Galápagos archipelago. Española, one of the oldest and southernmost islands, boasts a high percentage of endemic species due to its isolation. The island itself is a classic shield volcano, shaped over millions of years.A visit to Punta Suarez is a sensory feast. Sea lions often greet visitors upon arrival at the rocky landing site. The trail leads past a small beach where sea lions frolic, then winds through saltbush, offering glimpses of Galápagos hawks, mockingbirds, Darwin's finches, and Galápagos doves.One of the main draws is the waved albatross colony, present from April to December.
