Public Transport
From Cuenca's Terminal Terrestre, take a bus heading towards Guayaquil. Several bus companies, including Occidental, offer frequent departures throughout the morning. Purchase a ticket at the bus station for approximately $3 USD. Inform the driver that you wish to disembark at the Cajas National Park visitor center (Refugio Toreadora). The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The bus will drop you off directly in front of the visitor center. To return to Cuenca, cross the road and flag down any bus heading in that direction.
Taxi
A taxi from Cuenca to the Cajas National Park visitor center will cost approximately $20 USD each way. Negotiate the fare beforehand. Arrange a pick-up time with the driver for your return journey, or flag down a bus on the main road back to Cuenca. Taxis offer a faster and more comfortable option than public transport, but at a significantly higher cost.
Use Parque Nacional Cajas as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
