Guayaquil Historical Park, located in Samborondón, is a 24-acre living museum that transports visitors back in time to experience the essence of early 20th-century coastal Ecuador. The park is thoughtfully divided into three distinct zones, each offering a unique perspective on the region's rich heritage: the Wildlife Zone, the Urban Architectural Zone, and the Traditions Zone.The Wildlife Zone allows visitors to observe the native flora and fauna of the Guayaquil region. This zone acts as a refuge for over 50 species of birds, animals, and reptiles in their natural habitats. Elevated wooden walkways wind through mangroves and forests, providing opportunities to spot white-tailed deer, ocelots, sloths, parrots, and even alligators. The park also focuses on introducing local fauna and flora, a lot of which are on the near extinction list.The Urban Architectural Zone recreates the architectural styles of Guayaquil around 1900. Following a devastating fire in 1896, the city was rebuilt in the Republic style, and examples of this architecture have been carefully relocated to the park.
