From the Metropolitan Cathedral, walk east along Calle Espejo until you reach the square. From the Carondelet Palace, simply exit onto the square. The square is pedestrian-only, making it easy to navigate and enjoy the surroundings.

    To reach Independence Square by public transport, use the Quito Metro or the Trolebús. The 'San Francisco' station on the Quito Metro is a short walk from the square. Alternatively, take the Trolebús to a stop near the Old Town, such as Plaza del Teatro or Plaza Santo Domingo, and walk a few blocks to the square. The Trolebús fare is $0.35. Make sure to have small bills or change, as operators may not be able to change larger bills.

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are readily available in Quito. A short taxi ride within the city center typically costs between $1.50 and $3.
