Taxi/Ride-sharing
From downtown Cairo, taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Careem are readily available. A ride to the Giza Pyramids typically takes 30-60 minutes, depending on traffic. Expect to pay around 70-200 EGP, but be sure to negotiate the fare beforehand or check the app for an estimated cost. Alternatively, you can book a private transfer from your hotel or the airport for a more comfortable and hassle-free experience. These transfers usually cost between 200-600 EGP.
Public Transport
To reach the Giza Pyramids by metro, take Line 2 to Giza station. From there, you can take a taxi or a bus to the pyramids, which are approximately 8 km away. A taxi ride from Giza metro station to the pyramids will cost around 20-30 EGP. Several buses also operate from Cairo to Giza. Bus numbers 355 and 357 depart from near the Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo. The bus fare is approximately 4 EGP. Be prepared for a crowded journey, which may take up to an hour during peak traffic.
Entrance Fees
The Giza Plateau entrance ticket costs 700 EGP for adults and 350 EGP for students with a valid ID. This ticket grants access to the complex but does not include entry to the Great Pyramid or other tombs. Additional tickets are required to enter the pyramids: * Great Pyramid (Khufu): 900-1500 EGP * Pyramid of Khafre: 280 EGP * Pyramid of Menkaure: 280 EGP
