Getting There

  • Car

    From the Debre Libanos Monastery, head south on the main road (Debre Libanos Road) for about 8 kilometers. Follow the signs towards Dejen. As you approach Dejen, keep an eye out for the sign to the Blue Nile River Bridge (አባይ ድልድይ). The bridge is located approximately 2 kilometers outside of Dejen on the left side of the road. There is a parking area near the bridge where you can safely leave your vehicle.

  • Public Transport

    From Debre Libanos Monastery, take a local minibus (also known as a 'bajaj' or 'taxi') heading towards Dejen. The fare is usually around 20-30 Ethiopian Birr. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Dejen, you can either walk or take a local tuk-tuk to the Blue Nile River Bridge, which is about 2 kilometers away. The tuk-tuk fare should be around 10-15 Ethiopian Birr.

    If you prefer to walk from Dejen, after arriving, head south on the main road from the center of Dejen towards the outskirts. Follow the signs for the Blue Nile River Bridge.
