Car
If you are driving from Simien Mountains National Park towards Bale Mountains, start by heading southeast on the main road (A2) from the park. You'll need to travel approximately 310 kilometers, which can take around 8 to 10 hours depending on road conditions. Be sure to stop in nearby towns like Debark for fuel and supplies. Continue on A2 until you reach the junction at Robe, then take the road towards the Bale Mountains National Park entrance.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transport, take a bus from Debark to Addis Ababa. From there, you will need to catch another bus heading towards Robe. The entire journey can take over 12 hours and costs around 200-300 Ethiopian Birr for the bus to Addis and around 100-200 Birr from Addis to Robe. Once you arrive in Robe, you can hire a taxi or a local minibus to reach Bale Mountains National Park, which is about 30 kilometers away.
Taxi
For a more direct route after reaching Robe, consider hiring a taxi to take you to the Bale Mountains National Park. This typically costs between 1000 to 1500 Ethiopian Birr. The journey should take about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Bicycle or Hiking
For the adventurous, once you reach the vicinity of Bale Mountains, consider renting a bicycle or embarking on a hike to explore the area. Local guides can be hired for a reasonable fee, ranging from 300 to 500 Ethiopian Birr per day, which includes equipment and support.
