Discover more about Faer Isles Distillery

Faer Isles Distillery, established in 2018, is located in the village of Vestmanna on the island of Streymoy. The distillery's mission is to capture the essence of the Faroe Islands in its spirits, utilizing local botanicals like seaweed to create a distinctive maritime flavor. The distillery offers guided tours that provide insight into the distilling process, from the selection of ingredients to the unique maturation methods. The visitor center features a bar with a selection of over 50 single malt whiskies, as well as other quality spirits and beers. The bar's decor includes handcrafted wooden tables made by a local craftsman. What sets Faer Isles Distillery apart is its maturation process. Instead of traditional climate-controlled warehouses, the distillery uses traditional Faroese “hjallur” style structures for its warehouses in Kvívík. These structures, traditionally used for wind-drying meat and fish, have slatted wooden walls that allow the salty ocean winds to freely circulate, influencing the maturing whisky. The distillery began full-scale whisky production in early 2023 and expects to release its first whisky in 2026. In the meantime, visitors can enjoy the distillery's gin, akvavit, and vodka.
