Discover more about Kallur Lighthouse

Kallur Lighthouse, built in 1927, stands as a sentinel on the northernmost tip of Kalsoy Island, offering what many consider to be one of the most spectacular views in the Faroe Islands. The small, red-and-white lighthouse has become a popular destination, drawing hikers and photographers alike to witness its stunning vistas. The journey to the lighthouse is an experience in itself, requiring a ferry ride to Kalsoy, a drive through narrow, one-lane tunnels, and a scenic hike. The hike from the village of Trøllanes is moderately easy, taking around 45-60 minutes each way, and rewards visitors with unforgettable views of dramatic cliffs, the endless ocean, and neighboring islands. From the lighthouse, you can see Eysturoy and Streymoy islands, as well as the Risin & Kellingin sea stacks. While the hike is generally considered moderate, some sections near the lighthouse and cliffs can be challenging. The path can be muddy and slippery, and the weather in the Faroe Islands is notoriously unpredictable, so caution is advised. It is also important to stay on the marked paths and be mindful of the steep cliffs. Despite these challenges, the Kallur Lighthouse remains a must-see attraction for those seeking the raw, untamed beauty of the Faroe Islands.
