    Discover more about Skarðsáfossur

Skarðsáfossur, a relatively unknown waterfall on the island of Vágar, offers a serene and picturesque experience for nature enthusiasts. Situated between the villages of Bøur and Gásadalur, it is somewhat hidden, making it a unique and less crowded attraction compared to the more famous Múlafossur. The waterfall gracefully cascades down rugged cliffs onto a small black stone beach, creating a stunning contrast between the water and the dark rocks. The surrounding landscape features lush greenery and dramatic vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. From the sea, you can also spot the skerry Akranessker, the islet Tindhólmur, and the sea arch Drangarnir. Exploring the waterfall is best done after a period of rain, as this ensures a strong flow of water. Keep an eye out for puffins and seals that are often seen in the area. While the land around the waterfall is private property, boat tours along the Sørvágsfjørður fjord provide excellent views.
