Located in the remote village of Gásadalur, the Sunset Viewpoint is a prime location for experiencing the natural beauty of the Faroe Islands. The viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, dramatic cliffs, and the iconic islet of Tindhólmur. It's an ideal spot to witness the sky ablaze with vibrant colors during sunset.
Gásadalur itself is nestled between lush green fields and towering mountains on Vágar Island. Until 2004, the village was isolated, accessible only by a strenuous hike over the mountains. The construction of the Gásadalstunnilin tunnel in 2004 connected the village to the rest of the island, making it more accessible to visitors. Despite increased accessibility, Gásadalur has retained its unspoiled nature and tranquil atmosphere.
From the viewpoint, visitors can often spot puffins nesting on the cliffs (in season) and enjoy the serene environment. The nearby Múlafossur Waterfall, where the river plunges 60 meters into the ocean, adds to the dramatic scenery. The village also offers a glimpse into traditional Faroese life, with its charming houses and friendly locals.

Getting There
Driving
If driving from Vágar Airport, head west on Route 22 towards Sørvágur. In Sørvágur, follow Route 45 towards Bøur and Gásadalur. Drive through the one-lane Gásadalstunnilin tunnel. Once in Gásadalur, follow the main road towards the village exit. The Sunset Viewpoint is a few minutes' drive from the village center. Parking is available near the viewpoint. Be mindful of the weather and road conditions.
Public Transport
To reach Gásadalur from Tórshavn, take bus 300 to Sørvágur. Then, transfer to bus 350, which will take you to Gásadalur. The bus journey from Sørvágur to Gásadalur is approximately 7 minutes. From the Gásadalur bus stop, walk towards the main road leading out of the village. The Sunset Viewpoint is about a 15-minute walk from the village center. A single bus fare within the Vágar region typically costs around 30 DKK.

From the center of Gásadalur, walk towards the main road that leads to the village exit. Follow the road for approximately 15 minutes. The path is well-marked and offers views of the surrounding mountains and the ocean. Look for signs indicating 'Sunset Viewpoint'.
