The waterfall is especially impressive after rainfall, while in drier summer months, the dark stone behind the falls becomes more prominent, giving it its name.

Walking
From the Tórshavn Bus Terminal or Steinatún square, walk north along Niels Finsensgøta. Turn left onto Við Havnará and continue past the statue Ormabani. Follow the road Undir Svartafossi for approximately 2 km to reach Svartafoss Waterfall. The walk takes around 30-45 minutes.
Public Transport
From the Tórshavn Bus Terminal, take one of the free red city buses. Routes 1-4 will get you close to Svartafoss. Check the real-time map or Google Journey Planner for the most up-to-date route and schedule information. From the bus stop, follow the road Undir Svartafossi for approximately 5-10 minutes to reach Svartafoss Waterfall. The bus system is free of charge.
