Discover more about Koskenniska Smoke Sauna

Koskenniska Smoke Sauna offers an authentic and luxurious Finnish sauna experience in Laukaa, approximately 25 minutes from Jyväskylä. This modern smoke sauna, completed in 2006, provides a unique setting for larger groups seeking relaxation and a taste of Finnish tradition. The Koskenniska Smoke Sauna distinguishes itself through its traditional heating process. Unlike regular saunas with a chimney, a smoke sauna (or savusauna in Finnish) has no chimney. The fire is built directly under a pile of rocks, filling the entire room with smoke as it heats. Once the desired temperature is reached, the fire is extinguished, and the smoke is aired out, leaving behind a distinctive smoky aroma and gentle warmth. This process can take up to six hours, resulting in a soft, humid heat considered particularly beneficial for relaxation and rejuvenation. The sauna can accommodate up to 30 people simultaneously. Adjacent to the smoke sauna is a continuously heated Rantasauna (beach sauna) for 3-4 people, which can be booked for an additional fee. A separate fireplace room, dressing area, and shower/sauna section cater to the needs of larger groups. The terrace features two outdoor jacuzzis, and guests can take a dip in the lake year-round, even in winter. Koskenniska Smoke Sauna was among the first to receive the Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience quality certificate from Sauna from Finland in 2015.
