Getting There

  • Car

    From Salla, drive towards Kuusamo on Route 950. After approximately 45 km, turn left onto Oulangantie (Route 950) towards Kuusamo. Drive 2.5 km and turn left onto Urriaavantie (brown sign for 'Oulangan kanjoni'). After 4 km, turn right at Teeriaho/Kanjoni, drive 1 km, then turn left at Kanjoni. Continue 5.5 km on the forest road to the Savilampi parking area. Note that this road may not have winter maintenance.

    Take a bus from Rovaniemi or Salla towards Oulanka National Park. Disembark at the closest bus stop to Oulanka National Park. From there, walk approximately 5 kilometers to reach the trailhead for Kanjonin Kurkkaus. Check the bus schedule in advance as services may be limited. Bus fare is approximately €20-30.
