    From the Oulanka Visitor Center, the Kiutaköngäs Rapids are easily accessible via a well-marked, one-kilometer trail. The trail starts near a wooden gate at the end of the Visitor Center and leads along the Oulankajoki River. The wide path is easy to follow and includes some gentle hills and stairs. After crossing a wooden bridge, you'll reach the rocky area of Kiutaköngäs, offering views of the 300-meter rapids. The walk from the visitor center to the rapids is free.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Kiutaköngäs by public transport, take a bus from Kuusamo to Oulanka National Park. Buses operate from Kuusamo bus station to various stops within the park. From the bus stop nearest to the Oulanka Visitor Center, it is approximately a 3-kilometer walk to the center. From the visitor center, follow the walking directions to Kiutaköngäs. Bus fares from Kuusamo to Oulanka National Park vary depending on the season and operator. Check the Matkahuolto website for current timetables and prices. A single bus fare can cost around €20.

  • Car

    If driving, head towards Kuusamo and then take Liikasenvaarantie (Road 917) towards Oulanka National Park. Continue on Liikasenvaarantie for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the Oulanka Visitor Center, located at Liikasenvaarantie 132, 93900 Kuusamo. From the visitor center, the Kiutaköngäs Rapids are a short walk away. Parking at the Visitor Center is free. There are no tolls on this route.
