    From the Pyhä-Luosto Visitor Centre Naava, follow the marked Karhunjuomalampi Trail. The trail is well-signed and easy to follow, leading through forests and scenic paths. The hike to Karhunjuomalampi takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you have water and snacks.

  • Public Transport

    Take a bus to Pelkosenniemi from nearby cities like Rovaniemi or Kuusamo. From the Pelkosenniemi bus station, walk approximately 2 kilometers to the Karhunkierros Trail trailhead. Follow the signs for Karhunjuomalampi and hike approximately 5 kilometers to reach the destination. Bus tickets cost approximately €5-€15 depending on the origin.

  • Car

    Drive on the E75 road towards Pelkosenniemi. In Pelkosenniemi, follow the signs to the Karhunkierros Trail and park at the designated parking area near the trailhead. From the parking area, hike approximately 5 kilometers to Karhunjuomalampi, following the marked trail signs. Parking is free.

The Karhunjuomalampi Trail, a 10 km loop, leads to some of the finest viewpoints in Pyhä, passing through the deepest gorge in Finland, Isokuru. The trail continues towards Noitatunturi fell, the highest fell in the Pyhä-Luosto fell chain, offering fine views of the national park. The area is steeped in history, with ancient stones shaped by waves along the trail reminding hikers that the fells are part of an ancient seabed.
