From the Oulu Market Square (Kauppatori), head northeast towards the intersection of Kirkkokatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu. Walk along Pakkahuoneenkatu until you reach the intersection with Isokatu. Named in honor of Marshal Mannerheim on his 75th birthday in 1942, the park provides a green oasis in the city center.Originally the site of a wooden block district destroyed by fire in 1916, the area was transformed into a park in 1927. The geometrical design of the park reflects the French formal garden style, attributed to city gardener Kella Äijälä. A major renovation completed in 2019 enhanced the park's functionality, adding a wooden performance stage, illuminated fountains, and facilities for small gatherings.The park is home to the Vapaudenpatsas (Statue of Freedom), designed by Into Saxel, commemorating South Bothnian heroes of 1918.
