From the Oulu Market Square (Kauppatori), head northeast towards the intersection of Kirkkokatu and Pakkahuoneenkatu. Walk along Pakkahuoneenkatu until you reach the intersection with Isokatu. Originally the site of a wooden block district destroyed by fire in 1916, the area was transformed into a park in 1927. The geometrical design of the park reflects the French formal garden style, attributed to city gardener Kella Äijälä.
