Getting There

  • Walking

    Oulu Castle is easily accessible on foot from Oulu city center. From the Oulu Market Square, head southeast on Kauppatori towards Torikatu. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Kirkkokatu. Turn left onto Kirkkokatu and walk until you reach the park area. The castle is located on Linnansaari, a small island accessible by foot from the park. There is no fee to access the Oulu Castle ruins.

  • Public Transport

    From Oulu Market Square, take bus line 14 or 15 towards 'Linnanmaa'. Get off at the 'Linnanpuisto' stop. Walk towards Linnansaari Park, and you will find Oulu Castle at the end of the park. A single ticket is valid for 90 minutes and can be purchased via the OSL app, R-Kioski vendors, or with cash on the bus. Contactless payment is also available on buses. A single ticket costs between €2-€3.

  • Car

    If driving, follow signs for 'Keskusta' (City Center) and then towards the waterfront area. Look for signs for Oulu Castle (Linnansaari 1). Limited parking is available near the castle. Enter by car only when driving from the Northern direction via Merikoskenkatu. When driving from the Southern direction, it is not possible to turn to the cellar parking lot. Free parking spaces are available on Raatti Island, next to Linnansaari. Parking in the city center is subject to a charge on weekdays 8:00-18:00 and Saturdays 8:00-16:00.
