Getting There

    From Honeymoon Island State Park, start by heading south on Honeymoon Island Causeway. After approximately 2 miles, merge onto FL-586 W (Curlew Road). Continue for about 5 miles until you reach US-19 S, where you will turn left. Continue on US-19 S for about 11 miles, then take the exit onto I-275 S toward Tampa. Follow I-275 S for about 13 miles, then take exit 47A to merge onto I-4 E toward Orlando. After about 18 miles, take exit 7 for US-301 N toward Zephyrhills. Continue on US-301 N for about 10 miles, and Hillsborough River State Park will be on your left at 15402 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. Please note there is an entry fee of $6 per vehicle.

  • Public Transportation

    From Honeymoon Island State Park, you will first need to take the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus route 444 to Tarpon Springs. This ride will take about 30 minutes. Once at Tarpon Springs, transfer to bus route 19 heading south. Ride this bus for about 45 minutes until you reach the Tampa Bay Area Transit Authority (HART) stop. From there, you can catch HART route 18 to reach the intersection with I-4. Finally, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service for the remaining 10 miles to Hillsborough River State Park, as public transportation does not go directly there. Expect costs ranging from $25 to $40 for the taxi or rideshare.
