Walking
If you are staying in Lido Key, the most straightforward way to reach Bird Key Park is by walking. Start at the Lido Beach Pool, located on Ben Franklin Drive. Head south on Ben Franklin Drive until you reach the intersection with the John Ringling Causeway. Cross the road carefully, and continue walking straight, which will take you onto the John Ringling Causeway. Follow the causeway for about half a mile, enjoying the scenic views of the water. Once you reach Bird Key, take the first left onto FL-789. Continue walking for about 0.3 miles, and Bird Key Park will be on your right at 761 FL-789.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Lido Key. From your rental location, head south on Ben Franklin Drive towards the John Ringling Causeway. Once you reach the causeway, use the bike lane to ride along the scenic route. Follow the causeway for about a half-mile, and then take the first left onto FL-789. Continue riding for about 0.3 miles, and Bird Key Park will be on your right at 761 FL-789. Be cautious of traffic, especially on the causeway.
Public Transportation
While there is no direct public transportation route to Bird Key Park, you can take a bus from Lido Key to downtown Sarasota. Start by heading to the nearest bus stop on Ben Franklin Drive. Take the Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) Route 15, headed towards downtown Sarasota. After about a 20-minute ride, get off the bus at the Main Street stop. From there, you can either walk or bike to Bird Key Park. To reach Bird Key Park, head east on Main Street, and when you reach the intersection with US-41, turn left and follow the road until you reach the John Ringling Causeway.Continue across the causeway, and take the first left onto FL-789. Bird Key Park will be approximately 0.3 miles down the road on your right. Please note there may be a bus fare of around $1.50 for a one-way trip.
